“I didn’t know where I was going until I got there.”

Here We Wander is a travel blog meant to inspire those who revel in the great outdoors and seek to get outside whenever possible. But first, allow us to introduce ourselves. We’re Alex and Eliza, travel enthusiasts and the couple behind this blog. If you couldn’t tell by now, we love to travel, hike, camp, and get outdoors. You’ll mostly hear from Eliza (she’s the writer behind all this) although Alex will share his perspective from time to time.

Why we travel and hike

When we first started traveling and hiking (and often doing both together), we didn’t always know what to expect. However, we quickly became enamored by the experiences it afforded us. Put simply, there is nothing quite like exploring and getting to know a destination than by getting outside and seeing it firsthand, whether it’s running through a city, hiking a local trail, or simply taking a road quite literally less traveled. There’s a rawness to it that can’t be matched: exploring the natural terrain, seeing regional wildlife, walking the same treks as locals.

What to expect from us

  • We aren’t digital nomads. We both work and know what it’s like to want to make the most of your hard-earned days off. As a result, we write practical travel guides and itineraries for folks who have limited time and lots to see on their own dime (like us!). Expect aggressive travel and plenty of short trip getaway itineraries.
  • When planning a trip, we pour hours and hours into research. If we can save you time, let us help! Save yourself the hassle of researching your itinerary by leveraging all of our planning and informed travel guides.
  • When we travel, we love to incorporate some kind of activity that gets us outside, whether that’s hiking, running, climbing, camping, boating, you name it. You can expect to find lots of tips on how to incorporate outdoor activities into your travels.

Why read our blog

There are so many travel blogs out there that we debated whether it was worthwhile to add our stories to mix. At the end of the day, we created Here We Wander because we wanted to share our take on travel: while we love exploring a big city, we love incorporating the great outdoors and off-beat destinations to our travels even more.

By sharing our experiences, learnings, and in-depth travel guides, we hope that others will not only feel inspired to incorporate the outdoors into their travel plans, but also feel more confident (and a little less burdened, we hope!) when creating their own travel itineraries.

Happy trails!
